Research Resources - May 2011

Here it is, Memorial Day in the United States. That usually signals the start of summer vacation for most kids and parents. Some states still have a couple weeks to go.

And for some, summer doesn't mean 2-3 months off. Instead, it means hitting the books again or continuing with research and education.

So, I'm here with these top 5 resources this month. Thanks to friends from the 19th Century Writers group and a variety of other sources for these:

Geneva Historical Society - a collection of tidbits about everyday life in the past.

Maggie May Fashions - a great resource for 19th Century clothing. You can search the tags by decade. There are lots of details about fabrics, styles and accessories; drawings and patterns; and descriptions of hats and undergarments too.

The Overland Stage - site devoted to the stage coach and the different types of stations that existed.

Homestead Heritage - a small village with living history sites, offering classes as well for your instruction and education.

Victorian Kitchen - Details about the kitchen and a lot of other tidbits as well. Dates from 1860-1900.

That's it for this month. As always, feel free to share your own fabulous research sites or resources in the comments. If they're important to you, they're important to us too! We'd love to hear about them. :)
