Hi, everyone! We've been thinking about genres at our house lately, thanks to some things my eighth grader is doing in language arts class (trust me, between him and our fifth grader, there's always plenty of school stuff to ponder around here).

And, yes, I know there's a way to insert a poll into a Blogger post, but I didn't want to try it here and possibly mess up all sorts of things. So, we'll do it the old fashioned way instead. My starting-point list is below. Leave a comment to let us know which of these genres -- or another one that I might've forgotten -- is your favorite. We'd also love to know why it's your favorite, if you don't mind sharing.
My favorite historical genre is ...
-- Historical (general, not necessarily romance)
-- Historical romance
-- Historical romantic suspense
-- Historical mystery
-- Time travel
-- Biblical
-- Medieval
-- Regency
We look forward to seeing which type of story you enjoy most, and why!

You have some great books in that stack, including a few I haven't read yet, but intend to soon! :) My favorite historical subcategories would include Biblical, time travel, Regency, romantic suspense...actually, all the ones you've listed there are ones I like. :) But especially the ones above...time travel not as much as the others.
Here's how I'd rate that list:
Historical (general, not necessarily romance)
Historical romance
Historical mystery
Time travel
Historical romantic suspense
Regency
Medieval
Biblical
