And, the survey says ...

Hi, everyone! We've been thinking about genres at our house lately, thanks to some things my eighth grader is doing in language arts class (trust me, between him and our fifth grader, there's always plenty of school stuff to ponder around here).

A few of my favorite historical novels
But genres aren't as cut and dry as they used to be, are they? Chances are, once you start looking into a genre, you find sub-genres within that same category. It seems to be especially true of historical fiction, so I thought we'd start the week here at Novel PASTimes with a little fun. Since we already know (or at least assume) that you like history since you visit us here, let's find out what our favorite sub-genres of historical fiction are.

And, yes, I know there's a way to insert a poll into a Blogger post, but I didn't want to try it here and possibly mess up all sorts of things. So, we'll do it the old fashioned way instead. My starting-point list is below. Leave a comment to let us know which of these genres -- or another one that I might've forgotten -- is your favorite. We'd also love to know why it's your favorite, if you don't mind sharing.

My favorite historical genre is ...

-- Historical (general, not necessarily romance)
-- Historical romance
-- Historical romantic suspense
-- Historical mystery
-- Time travel
-- Biblical
-- Medieval
-- Regency

We look forward to seeing which type of story you enjoy most, and why!

You have some great books in that stack, including a few I haven't read yet, but intend to soon! :) My favorite historical subcategories would include Biblical, time travel, Regency, romantic suspense...actually, all the ones you've listed there are ones I like. :) But especially the ones above...time travel not as much as the others.
