Research Resources - June 2014

Ok, so I've blown it the past 3 months. We set a new schedule for my monthly column, and I forgot to put it in my calendar of due dates and deadlines. Several emails let me know y'all missed me, so much to your pleasure--or chagrin for some--I've returned. Look for these posts on the 2nd Monday of every month. And that's a promise!

Now, here we go with these top 5 resources for the month of June, and a warm welcome into summer for the northern hemisphere:

Country Studies - Average temperatures and rainfall measurements for all fifty (50) states, organized by popular towns/cities within the state.

Natural Readers - an amazing text-to-speech free reading software. This is an excellent resource for reviewing any manuscript, article, or written piece of work. Errors are so much more easily spotted when heard audibly.

Old and Interesting - Site for all things historical. Some items are as "current" as the early 20th century, but much of the items featured are from the 19th century and prior. Everything from kitchen wares to bedding to household items and more.

Our Timeline - Enter the timeframe for whatever period of time you're researching for whatever purpose, and this site will give you all the timeline facts, including things like when 8-track tapes came out. Great resource for historical or contemporary research.

Simple Study Guides - 11 rules of grammar and punctuation often broken or missed completely.

As always, feel free to share your own fabulous research sites or resources in the comments. If they're important to you, they're important to us too! We'd love to hear about them. :)
